Here’s your pic!!!!

We were soaked to the bone!!!!!!!

Correction to yesterday’s post. 10 kids accepted Jesus and most of them came out of the surrounding Morman neighborhood. Katie and her church are going to continue to minister to that area on a regular basis. Football camps ended up with more that 100 young men!!!!  Wow!!  It’s been amazing.

Julie did an awesome job speaking at the women’s conference. This is the first women’s event they have ever had. The women loved it and some are planning on continuing gathering women together monthly.

The said they are going to call themselves “The Tennessee Women” . They are all so precious!

Several of the women brought their teenage daughters, nieces or granddaughters to the conference. Laura and Chad took  them to another venue to talk to them about purity and their self worth. We ended the evening with the older ladies circling the younger ones and praying for them. It was a sweet experience!

Pray for us as we travel home late tonight. We don’t leave until 11:30 p.m. , 5:30 Tennessee time! We’ll spend the day in Honolulu tomorrow. (keep praying!!:) We fly thru the night Friday night. We’ll be home mid morning on Saturday.

Wednesday in Samoa

We went to a beautiful resort for dinner last night before the Women’s Conference. The view of the ocean was amazing. I have include a pic of the ladies wearing their pulitasis.(sp?) We finished up VBS today. There were even more kids waiting on us (early) when we arrived! We ended up with more than 50 kids!  Six of them accepted Jesus this morning!  It was really hard to leave them. They are beautiful, sweet and loved us back! They all seemed to have a good time. If nothing else, they heard the name of Jesus, and belted it out during music time.  The sports camps were a great success in spite of the rain. Several of us gathered at the end of the softball camp for a wet game of whiffle ball. What a blast! We ended up running and diving into big puddles of water. We were soaked. Stay tuned for a soaked picture of Julie soon!!!  We’re all tired and yearning to see our family, but are excited about what God has done here in American Samoa.

Tuesday in Samoa

We’ve had another great day in VBS and camps. If you read yesterday’s post, you’ll remember that no one showed up for VBS until around 9:30. We arrived today to set up.. they were waiting at the door…EARLY!!!  Praise God!!! We had around 45!!!  It rained again last night and has been drizzling today, so that affected our soccer camps some but the football camp had more teams join today.   Julie did a great job speaking to the women last night. Pray for another great evening..  :)

VBS and Sports Camps

We just finished up our day. VBS went well and all the sports camps did too. The weather is more like we expected it to be now. We are all hot and sweaty. These people are definitely on island time…. VBS was to start at 9 and we had no kids til around 9:30 and ended up with almost 30. The girls started off with only one soccer player but ended up with 10 to 12 by the end. The football camp had a whopping 50! Softball camp was a success with around 20 girls. Laura and Chad went to a college and spoke. Several girls stayed late to confide in Laura. It was a sweet time. Tonight is the first night of the Women’s conference. Pray that God will use Julie to minister to the ladies here.

Sunday morning

This morning we all divided up and went to different churches.  The men went to the English-speaking service at which Brian preaches; half the ladies went to a Korean church at which Chad preached; the other half of the ladies stayed here on campus and went to the Samoan-speaking service here at Happy Valley Baptist Church.  I’m sure the others will testify the same thing…that the services were amazing!!  I went to the Samoan service.  I believe that God spoke to me through that service.  Pastor spoke mainly in Samoan, but then translated it to English for us.  They honored all the dads who were there.  That was pretty neat to see that.  One of our own, Jim, was there and they honored him, even though his family was back home.  All I know is that I’m fired up and falling in love with the culture, the people, everything here!!  This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it!!!!

Blessings!!

Last night we had our youth rally with lots of music and Chad spoke on the lovely topic sex. He did an amazing job. It was really cool because yesterday we took a short tour of the island and while we were at the top of the mountains we met a beautiful girl who was just running to clear her mind. She ended up coming to our rally and I think she had a really good time! Today we are just getting ready for the week and preparing for VBS and the sports camp. Although it is raining the island is beautiful! I Love it here!

Mom: I sent you an e-mail :) Love you lots!
